Choosing CV material as a composer, arranger or keyboardist

MusicianCV editorial draft · Updated 24 October 2026. Examples are illustrative; this guide does not independently verify qualifications or music rights.

Composer: show the work and its context

Name the work, its status and your musical contribution. If it was written for a visual project, explain the context you can share; do not present an independent exercise as an official film or game commission. Examples may demonstrate thematic development, small-ensemble writing or stage structure. Add a short listening note explaining why the example is relevant.

Arranger: distinguish the source from your contribution

Identify the source work and your role. Explain what you changed in instrumentation, form, accompaniment, orchestration or performance preparation. Arrangement does not justify claiming composition credit. Consider the sharing scope of both recordings if you use a comparison. Choose an example that explains relevant musical decisions rather than one that is merely denser or louder.

Keyboardist: performance role and stage preparation

Keyboard performance, accompaniment, backing preparation and sound programming can be different contributions. State what you did and in which context you can deliver it. Select a stage example where your role within the group can be understood. List equipment you actually use and can provide. Describe stage requirements without claiming responsibilities handled by other team members.

Selecting film and game music examples

Explain the scene’s purpose, excerpt duration and your role. Label a rescoring exercise clearly rather than presenting it as the released production’s official score. If you only composed music for a game context, do not add sound-design or interactive-integration credits. Explain what each short example demonstrates and check the recipient’s requested delivery format.

Turkish music and other focused specialties

Describe a specialty through your actual role. Use terms for makam, usul, interpretation or performance tradition carefully and provide context where necessary. A genre label should not imply expertise in every tradition. State location accurately and only at the level you wish to share. This guide does not rank professions or create city-based “best musician” lists.
