How to prepare a musician CV

Start with the purpose
A festival application, stage-team conversation and studio project may need different information. Identify the role the reader is assessing: keyboard performance, arranging, composition or another specialty. Build a focused summary of relevant experience. A short career résumé does not replace an extensive academic CV, repertoire list or other documents explicitly required by an application.
Describe the actual contribution
For each entry, give the project, period, role and contribution. Replace vague claims such as “experienced in music” with a clear task such as “keyboard parts and rehearsal preparation for a live group.” If a project name cannot be shared, say so. Do not suggest an association with a well-known institution through vague wording. Performance, arrangement, recording and mixing are distinct contributions.
Support it with selected works
Choose relevant source links and explain what the reader will hear and what you contributed. A large unrelated selection can bury the important example. Open the source in another session to check access. If listening requires permission to a private file, explain that requirement rather than presenting it as a public work.
Check claims and contact details
Name education, programmes and experience accurately. Participation is not the same as a professional qualification or award. Check dates, names and credits against your records. Decide deliberately which contact details belong in a shared document; private contact-card information need not become public automatically. Profile publication and CV access are separate settings.

After downloading the PDF or page images, check links, characters and page breaks. Ask someone to read only the document and tell you which role it presents. If the answer is unclear, improve the information order before adding decoration.
