Makam studies

Uşşak is associated with an ascending seyir and arrival on dügâh, with nevâ as güçlü. Learning the theoretical collection is helpful, but segâh’s performance usage cannot be fully explained through equal-tempered keys alone. Notated signs and contextual intonation require careful interpretation.

Study development and repose before treating pitch values as a recipe. Selecting a Western minor collection and renaming it Uşşak does not reproduce the same practice. This introductory article provides orientation for further theoretical and performance study, not an automatic makam generator.

Example

Record movement around segâh and the return to dügâh as separate listening observations.
