Tuning and pitch systems
Reference tuning assigns a frequency anchor to note names. A at 440 Hz is common, but ensembles may choose other values. Transposition instead moves a musical structure to another pitch level while preserving its relationships. These are different kinds of change.
If every note sits slightly above or below a recording, investigate the tuning reference first. If only certain notes disagree, examine pitches, scale context and performance. A semitone transposition is a much larger response than correcting a small reference mismatch.
Example
Changing the A reference from 440 to 442 Hz does not transpose a piece from A to B-flat.
Reference tuning versus transpositionA4 = 440 / A4 = 442
